Jack Volpe, singer
 |
I love music. And I love to sing.
Growing up, my siblings called me 'Larry Loudmouth'
(as words and sounds seemed to flow endlessly) though
my real name is John Volpe Rotondi. My parents encouraged
us to sing and play instruments, perhaps a ploy
to channel our energies and retain their sanity.
Clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, guitar, drums, harmonica,
banjo, keyboard. I had a knack for banging on the
bottom of wastebaskets. Jazz and the Great American
Songbook filled our home. My dad would belt out
"On a Clear Day" or "Winchester Cathedral"
every now and again...and he's still singing, a
baritone in a top-notch church choir. And I've been
singing ever since...boys' chorus, college choir,
musicals, dinner theater, benefits, memorial services,
cafes...all sorts of venues. |
I was extremely fortunate to meet Brian Fitzpatrick. Not
only is he a great guy and terrific pianist but together
we've put in the effort and dedication to consistently
improve our music as individuals and as a duo. He's taught
me a lot about jazz and inspired me to learn more about
its history, styles, performers, composers and lyricists.
We share a passion for sharing our passion. Jazz.
